A little history of POUND: It was created in 2011 by two women who were both recreational drummers and former college athletes. They relied on stability-based exercises like Pilates to keep their bodies aligned, symmetrical, and lean. However, they were bored with routine and wanted to reignite the fun in exercise. They realized that drumming without a stool required them to squat for longer periods of time so drumming and exercise became one! Now, POUND is a full body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates inspired moves. POUND uses ripstix, which are lightly weighted drumsticks that are specifically used for exercising. The POUND workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to men and women of all ages and abilities. We currently offer POUND on Saturday mornings at 7am. Starting in July, we will add POUND to Wednesday’s schedule at 10:30am.
