Woodlake Community Association invites you to serve on the Board of Directors. Each year, the WCA membership elects new individuals to three-year terms as a part of the seven-member Board of Directors. This year, there are two seats on the Board up for election. Retiring from the Board, after serving two consecutive terms are Michael Traynor and Bruce Shappe. Thank you, gentlemen, for your service to the community!
Now it is your turn. If you are interested in serving the community and being a part of the leadership team, we strongly encourage you to consider filing the Board Application Form online HERE. You may also print the form out HERE and return it to the office at 14900 Lake Bluff Parkway. It is the responsibility of those who serve on the Board to make decisions in the best interest of the community, a Duty of Care, rather than serve the interests of individual members or groups. To do so, each Board member needs to attend meetings and be informed to be able to make sound decisions on the topics facing the community. Service on the Board is a serious commitment and, while not always easy, one that is essential to the continued success of our community.
Board Members administer policy while the WCA staff conducts the day-to-day operations of the Association. The Board meets once per month (currently the 4th Wednesday of the month) and the meeting usually begins at 6:30pm and can last several hours. Special meetings may also be held throughout the year. Board members also are appointed to serve as liaisons to the various committees, which generally meet once a month.
Election of Board Members will be part of the Annual Meeting to be held in April. Voting materials will be sent out in March; therefore, applications for nomination must be received by Friday, March 13, 2020. There will be an informal meeting for those considering Board candidacy next Tuesday, March 3 at 7pm in the SRC Clubhouse.
Volunteering on the Board of Directors is challenging, but meaningful community service. Many of your neighbors and friends have answered the call to service for the Association over the years. They have helped to guide the policy and direction of the community, and have helped make Woodlake a great place to live, work, and play. Please consider volunteering your time and expertise to your Woodlake community.
