About Simply Dance

Woodlake's Simply Dance is a unique program that offers a variety of dance classes with no long term commitment, registration fee, or costume fee, and offers affordable prices to all levels and age groups. Whether you have a preschooler that can't stop moving, a budding ballerina, or a tween who wants to hip hop, we have the perfect class for you! Come experience the love of dance!

Fall 2017 Session Programs

I TUMBLE 4 U (Suggested Ages 3-5)
This class will focus on stretching, fine motor skills, balance, and coordination. It will also include a brief introduction to gymnastics according to your child’s skill level. Through movement, children will learn about space and their bodies. Children should wear clothing that allows free movement. The class will be held barefoot.

BALLET/TAP COMBO INTRO (Suggested Ages 3-5)
Dancers will do 30 minutes of ballet, followed by 30 minutes of tap, during which they will work on basic positions, across the floor sequences, and small center combinations of choreography for ballet. During tap, the dancers will work on the basic rhythms and steps to be done stationary and across the floor, followed by a combination of tap steps for center choreography. A leotard is recommended for this class. Ballet shoes preferred, but not required. Tap shoes required.

TRIO (BALLET/TAP/JAZZ) (Ages 5-7)
A 90 minute class that will introduce the younger dancer to ballet sequences and the basic steps of jazz and tap.  This class is perfect for young children who want to do it all!

PRE BALLET
(Suggested Ages 5-7) The perfect introduction to ballet for your preschooler/kindergartner is sure to spark their interest in dance. This class will include a brief barre warmup, stretch and introduction to ballet technique all crafted to kid friendly music.

WIGGLE FUN
(Suggested Ages 2-4) A creative movement class that will explore your child’s imagination through music while developing physical skills, channeling energy, and promoting inspiration. Children are encouraged to wear clothing that allows free movement. The class will be held barefoot.

HIPPITY HOP 
This high energy 60 minute class teaches rhythm, coordination and balance through age appropriate movements set to fun music.  Hip Hop instills rhythm and helps young dancers develop muscle memory.  This class is great for boys and girls who like to move but are not interested in classical ballet and jazz classes.

INTRO JAZZ
(Suggested Ages 5-7) This class will focus on basic technique, fun upbeat music, and choreography to develop your dancer‘s coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and self-expression. This class will include a warm up, stretching, isolations, across the floor and combo choreography to age-appropriate music. Jazz shoes recommended. Great for all levels.

BEGINNER JAZZ

TWEEN JAZZ
(Suggested Ages 10-13) This class will focus on basic technique, fun upbeat music, and choreography to develop the dancers’ coordination, rhythm, flexibility, and self-expression. This class will include a warm up, stretching, isolations, across the floor and combo choreography to age-appropriate music. Jazz shoes recommended. Great for all levels.

ACRO/JAZZ COMBO
(Suggested Ages 5-6) This class will consist of 30 minutes of Jazz and 30 minutes of Acro. Acro is not your typical tumbling class, but will guide your child towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline, and concentration with an introduction to tumbling. Jazz will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Jazz shoes recommended. Great for all levels.

HIP HOP
(Suggested Ages 7-10) This class will encourage students to step outside of their box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Hip Hop is a high energy class that delivers the latest styles of street dancing and breaking to the studio.

ADULT JAZZ
Used to dance and miss it? Always wanted to dance, but never did? This class is a great way to improve flexibility, balance and coordination. It will include a dance style warm up, stretch, isolations, and across the floor choreography. Jazz shoes recommended.

About the Director

Julianna Reddington was born and raised in Virginia. She began her training with the Richmond Ballet, where she danced for nine years. She danced on the Midlothian High School Dance Team, and after that, on the Rockers Dance Team while she earned a degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Physiology with a minor in dance at Radford University. She was also on the Charlotte Hornets Dance Team (NBA) and was an Assistant Coach at Midlothian High School. She performed in Stavna Ballet’s productions: Snow White & The Wizard of Oz.

About the Instructor

Tiffany Hoover was born and raised in Virginia and has danced at several studios in the area while growing up. She was a member of the dance team at Manchester High School and a member and captain of the dance team at Virginia Commonwealth University for several years. Tiffany has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a teaching certificate in early childhood education. She has had experience teaching children of all ages in both the dance and school setting, and also has two girls of her own.

Kirsten Grahma

Kirsten Graham was born and raised in Bluefield, WV. There, she studied dance under the direction of Randy Lamb of the Bluefield Dance Theatre. In her early career, she performed many solo roles gaining her prestigious national awards including National Senior Soloist and Star Performer of Dance Troupe, Inc. She went on to Radford University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Contemporary Dance. Kirsten has judged for National dance competitions and taught master classes across the southern states. She has taught and choreographed across the east coast earning National Choreography awards for her contemporary pieces. Kirsten has almost 20 years experience in dance education in all age groups.

Jenny Jonason

Jennifer Jonason was born and raised in New York. She started dancing at the young age of 2 at Long Island Dance Academy. She continued her dance here in Virginia at several dance studios including Encore, Spotlight and Chesterfield Dance Center. Along with being a Dancer she was also Cheerleader and Captain of her high school team. She has now moved on to college where she is studying Nursing, but her love of dance and working with children continues with everything she does.
