It was a perfect day for our Earth Day Celebration and the weather helped make the festivities fun and the crowd large! We started with a Nature Walk where we unveiled 6 new environmental signs that are now present along the walking trail around Tom Sawyer Island. These signs were sponsored by local businesses and will be a permanent part of our community. The signs provide information on the wildlife on our reservoir. Take and educational walk around the island soon. You can check out the video below to watch the unveiling of all 6 signs!
Thank you to all the residents and scouts who helped to clean our area. Groups hit the water and the paths with recycling bags cleaning up trash along the way.
The kids had a blast making bird feeders, decorating their own flower pots, and planting seeds! We ended our event by planting another tree. Thank you to Michael Traynor for donating and planting the tree again this year. Our small friends helped Michael get the dirt into the hole. The tree is placed beside the flagpole – making it a perfect addition to our pavilion area!
Thank you to all of the groups that came to give out information to our residents and thank you to the volunteers who helped to make this event possible!
