Share0 SharesWoodlake Cares – A Year-Round Program for Woodlake Residents Woodlake Cares is designed to provide the following with helpful volunteers from the community: • Interested in being a Care Helper? • Need assistance with someone you are the caregiver for? • Need extra help yourself? You have come to the right place! This program is completely FREE. Lifestyle Services is continuing a program called “Woodlake Cares”. We are looking for Care Helpers to volunteer their time helping out a neighbor in need within Woodlake. A Care Helper can do anything from helping a person get groceries, taking someone to doctor appointments, or just sitting with someone while their caregiver gets a break. A Care Helper will never give medication, handle wound care, or give a bath. Everyone’s situation/needs will be different. You will not be a caretaker, but a care helper. An extra set of hands around the home, preparing meals and storing them for later, correspondence, organizing/cleaning out, help with the computer, tablet, smart phone, hobbies, cards, games, help with pets and to make a new friend! Also, grocery shopping, picking up and mailing packages, dropping off and picking up dry cleaning, shopping for gifts, picking up and returning library books, taking things to Goodwill. Woodlake Cares can also include: medical appointments, shopping outings, trips to the salon, community and social events, trips to the library, visits with friends and family, and going out for a spin around the neighborhood. To date, we’ve had Woodlake Cares Helpers volunteering to help with the following: • Repairs and small fixes around the home • Blowing Leaves • Friendly dog visits • Mother and Baby visits • Reading to someone • Helping with chores around the home • And more! Everyone can use a friendly hand! If you are in need of a little extra help or if you know someone who needs a little extra help, have them contact Jenny – jennyd@woodlakeva.org.
